A pre-dawn blaze destroyed three semi-permanent single-storey houses in Kampung Baru, Batu 2 Jalan Apas early Tuesday morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 3:17am and arrived at the scene within 10 minutes.

The fire was brought under control by 4:04am and fully extinguished by 7:11am.

Thanks to swift action, firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to 47 nearby homes. No casualties were reported.

A total of 25 firefighters from the Tawau Fire Station were involved in the operation.
