Five illegals jailed for entering Sabah without documents
The offence under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 which provides for a jail term of up to five years, or a fine of up to RM10,000, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: Five illegal immigrants who entered the State without documents were jailed four months each.

They were Junsar Julbin, Omar Amir, Radzfel Adjajul, Akenu Abdu and Albidi Idjirani.

The illegal immigrants aged between 22 and 46, pleaded guilty separately before Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain, to the charge against them.

They were arrested in the different places in Sulaman and city areas in April this year, for entering the State without identification documents.

They were detained after failing to produce their identity documents during operations carried out by the Immigration personnel. The offence under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 which provides for a jail term of up to five years, or a fine of up to RM10,000, on conviction.

In mitigation, they pleaded for leniency and asked to be deported to their homeland as soon as possible.

They told the court that they have family to look after and working while in the State as labourers, fishermen, carpenters and gardeners.

The court ordered the illegals to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrests.

After completing their jail sentence, they were ordered referred to the Immigration Department for further action.

Prosecuting Officer Yolanda Ismail Uvaraj from the Immigration Department appeared for the prosecution.
