No compounds issued for plastic bag use, says DBKK

KOTA KINABALU: The City Hall (DBKK) refutes claims made in a viral video that an individual was compounded for using a plastic bag while shopping in the city.

DBKK clarified, in its Facebook page on Wednesday, that no compound notices have been issued to the public for using single-use plastic bags as the relevant by-law is still under consideration.

The ongoing “Hari-Hari Bawa Beg Bah” campaign, launched on Aug 1, 2024, is currently in a phased awareness stage, encouraging residents to bring reusable bags when shopping.

Exemptions have been granted to traders selling raw items such as fish, meat, and seafood at markets under DBKK’s jurisdiction.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
DBKK urges city residents to support the campaign in line with the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) initiative and stay updated through their official website or Facebook page.
