PETALING JAYA: Works minister Alexander Nanta Linggi has filed a police report denying allegations linking him to a corruption scandal involving the Pan Borneo Highway project in Sabah.

In a statement today, Nanta said the allegations, believed to have originated from a Telegram channel, were defamatory, unfounded, and made with malicious intent.

“As a politician and a member of the government who upholds trust and is committed to serving the people and the country, these accusations damage not only my image and integrity but also the reputation of the works ministry and the government as a whole.

“What is more concerning is that the message has not only spread on Telegram but has also been shared across various social media platforms, creating negative perceptions and suspicion among the public,” he said.

Nanta said his senior private secretary lodged the police report at the Tun HS Lee police station yesterday to request a formal investigation and deny the claims.

He pledged his full cooperation with the authorities and called for swift action against those responsible for spreading the claims.

“I wish to stress that slander should never be used as a tool to destroy someone’s reputation, especially for political gain or personal agendas,” he said.
