Kota Kinabalu: The closing date for entries for the Manangon (creative storytelling) and Monusuyan (true story narration) competitions has been extended from May 2 to May 10.
The Competition Committee Chairman Tindarama Rayner F. Udong said the extension is to allow for more participation as part of efforts to promote proficiency and the use of the mother tongue among students.
“Therefore, we urge interested students to submit their entries by uploading video recordings as specified to the competition’s organising committee,” he said during the ‘Interview Slot with DJ Lerry’ on Sabah VFM on Wednesday.
According to him, the Manangon, Monusuyan, and Roisol (public speaking) competitions are held in conjunction with the State-Level Kaamatan Festival celebration.
“The Manangon and Monusuyan competitions are divided into two categories – open to primary school pupils in Level One (aged seven to nine) and Level Two (aged 10 to 12) throughout Sabah, regardless of ethnicity, race, or religion,” he said.
He also said that this year’s edition is special because of the inclusion of the Roisol competition for the first time at the state level.
“As for the Manangon competition, this is its sixth edition, while the Monusuyan competition is being held for the fourth time this year,” he said.
