Failure to report skipper change: Boat detained
“Any change of skipper must be reported to ensure the licence and qualifications of the skipper are valid and recognised,” Dzulfikhar said.
LAHAD DATU: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained a local fishing vessel off Kampung Bakapit waters for failing to report change of skipper.

Lahad Datu Maritime Zone Director, Maritime Commander Dzulfikhar Ali, said MMEA personnel conducting Ops Pluto Timur and Ops Tiris in the area intercepted the vessel and upon inspection found it failed to comply with the rules requiring it to report any change of skipper.

“MMEA views this non-compliance seriously as it is closely related to navigation safety and control of local fishing activities.

“Any change of skipper must be reported to ensure the licence and qualifications of the skipper are valid and recognised,” he said.
