LAHAD DATU: The Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained a fishing vessel near Pulau Tabawan, Kunak waters on Sunday for breaching its licence conditions.

The vessel was stopped at 11.45am during operations under Op Pluto Timur and Op Tiris, said Lahad Datu Maritime Director Maritime Commander Dzulfikhar Ali.

It was manned by four individuals aged 27 to 39, including three Filipinos—one of whom was the skipper—and a local crew member.

Checks found the boat had violated the Fisheries Act 1985 by fishing less than 1.5 nautical miles from shore.
