SANDAKAN: 11 people were charged with criminal conspiracy where they were alleged to be engaged in cheating by offering loans through phone call, which actually did not exist.
Syahrizal Mohd Zaini, Suziyanti Siraju, Serli Marthen, Mohd Khairul Ismail, Mohammad Yasier Sumsu, Ahmad Nazmi Abdullah, Arminah Suaib, Dayang Syahierah Datu Syarajul Maharan, Nuraninatus Syahira Alpian, Amira Johari and Nurul Adira Amir, aged 19 and 33.
All of them pleaded not guilty separately before Magistrate Siti Aisyah Umar Baki.
Syahrizal, Suziyanti and Serli are accused of involving in the criminal conspiracy in which they agreed among themselves to commit an act that was against the law by offering non-existent loans via phone call.
The offence allegedly took place at 1.45am on May 7 this year at a house in housing estate Mile 8, here.
Meanwhile, the other eight allegedly committed the offence at 11pm on May 6 this year at a unit of condominium in Jalan Astana Heights, here.
They were charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 120B(1) for criminal conspiracy, and faced an imprisonment for up to 10 years and fine, if found guilty.
The court set June 16 and 19 for mention and released on bail of RM2,500 in two local sureties to Syahrizal, Mohd Khairul, Mohammad Yasier, Ahmad, Arminah and Dayang Syahierah, while the rest who did not have any document, were ordered remanded further.
Inspector Nooraznie Bolalan appeared for the prosecution while counsels Rasrina Patrik and Mohammed Zairie Zainal Abidin defended the 11.
