In his keynote address, Zahid emphasized the vital role rural communities play in Sabah’s development and overall national progress.
He stressed that in a fast-evolving world, these communities must no longer be left behind, but instead be placed at the heart of growth efforts.
“We must ensure that communities are no longer on the sidelines but are central to the development of the state. They are the backbone of our nation’s progress,” he said, highlighting the need for grassroots leadership that is responsive and adaptable to emerging challenges.
Zahid also underlined the importance of community leaders who are well-versed in government policies and capable of effectively communicating them to the public.
He noted that, beyond their traditional responsibilities, such leaders increasingly serve as educators and social facilitators, especially in times of crisis, while championing initiatives that directly benefit their communities.
