LAHAD DATU: A 38-year-old man was arrested for injuring his 13-year-old son during a domestic violence incident in Kampung Sharip on Saturday.

Acting District Police Chief Supt Jimmy Panyau said the assault occurred while the child was helping his father repair a vehicle. The suspect allegedly used his hands and a timing belt to beat the boy.

The incident was reported by the suspect’s ex-wife after receiving photos of the injuries via WhatsApp. The victim sustained bruises on his back, ribs, and leg. The suspect was arrested at 12.10pm the same day.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries a sentence of up to 10 years, a fine, whipping, or a combination. Police pledged firm action against domestic violence offenders.
