KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Law Society’s (SLS) judicial review on Sabah’s 40 per cent special grant will commence at the High Court here on July 7.

SLS former president Datuk Roger Chin said the case is scheduled for 9am.

The case seeks to determine whether the Federal Government breached its constitutional duty by failing to review and pay Sabah’s entitled share of net revenue since 1974.

SLS contends that the 40 per cent grant is a constitutional guarantee under Article 112C and the Tenth Schedule, not subject to political discretion or indefinite delay.

The Federal Government argues that the entitlement was replaced after the first review in 1969, with fixed payments satisfying its obligations, while the Sabah Government supports further reviews and acknowledges the lack of review over nearly five decades.

Chin welcomes public members to attend the open court hearing, and a public town hall will be held at the SLS Secretariat on June 20 to explain the case’s legal and historical context.
