PAPAR: The Pantai Manis division of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) stands firmly behind any decision made by the leadership of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) regarding political cooperation in the imminent 17th State Election (PRN17).
Its Chief, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Ismail, said his division believes that any form of collaboration should prioritise local aspirations which is in line with the party slogan “Rumah Kita, Kita Jaga” (Our Home, We Take Care). It believes that only Sabahans understand the needs and interests of the people of Sabah.
“Gagasan Rakyat Pantai Manis fully supports the stance of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor, who is also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Chairman, that the State Government should be led by a local party.
“I believe that such a desire is not excessive. I don’t see how it threatens or diminishes the authority of the Federal Government. “Let me remind everyone that the formation of the GRS coalition was based on the voice and aspirations of the locals in Sabah. “I believe local parties have the advantage of better understanding of the locals’ aspirations and needs,” he told Daily Express, here, recently.
