Sabah teacher's union opposes raising retirement age to 65
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Government Teachers' Union (KGKS) president, Murkam Hussien, rejects the proposal to raise the mandatory retirement age from 60 to 65.

He argues it would limit job opportunities for younger workers, as Malaysia produces over 300,000 graduates annually who may struggle to find permanent employment if older employees stay longer.

Murkam also stated that health and experience should not justify extending retirement age, warning of negative long-term effects on youth development and the national labour market balance.
