KOTA KINABALU: In conjunction with the Kaamatan Festival, Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman has called on the people to preserve and appreciate cultural heritage as a pillar of unity.
In a joint statement with his wife Toh Puan Faridah, he wished all Sabahans a joyful harvest festival, highlighting that Kaamatan reflects the importance of sustaining indigenous values that remain relevant today.
He said the celebration expresses gratitude for a bountiful rice harvest and plays a vital role in strengthening bonds amongst Sabah’s diverse ethnic groups.
Tun Musa also stressed that Sabah’s strength lies in its resilience in upholding traditional values while embracing cultural diversity.
“Sabah’s unity is an example for the rest of Malaysia,” he said.
Kaamatan is celebrated throughout May by the Kadazandusun and Murut communities as a tribute to the rice spirit and a symbol of cultural richness and unity.
