Kota Kinabalu: Sabahans are urged to continue supporting the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the coming state election, with a PBS Deputy President Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai asserting that the coalition remains the best choice to lead the State.
PBS is a key component of the eight-party GRS alliance, led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Dr Yee said GRS is committed to local leadership, inclusive development and swift governance.
“GRS leaders, especially the Chief Minister, act immediately not tomorrow or the day after because we are determined to improve infrastructure, reduce poverty and make Sabah better for all,” he said in a statement, here, Thursday.
He brushed off recent statements by Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Information Chief Datuk Suhaimi Nasir who suggested BN could regain its role as the Sabah Government’s backbone.
“Come on, Suhaimi, wake up. BN’s time is over. GRS has brought political stability and economic progress since 2020,” Dr Yee said, calling BN’s claim a wishful thinking.
Pointing out Hajiji’s leadership, Dr Yee noted that the Chief Minister is politically savvy, effective and people-centric.
He referenced Dr Oh Ei Sun of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, who previously described Hajiji as underrated for uniting a broad coalition after the tumultuous 2020 state election.
Dr Yee said internal conflicts over seat allocations or infighting could harm GRS’ election prospects.
“Sincere cooperation among all eight parties is crucial for a decisive victory,” he said.
“With a track record of stability and development, GRS aims to secure another strong mandate to continue its governance agenda for Sabah.”
