Electrocuted while picking mangoes
Fire and Rescue personnel lowering the victim’s body from the mango tree.
PAPAR: A 42-year-old man died after being electrocuted while picking mangoes in Kampung Bambangan, here, Sunday.

According to Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson, a team of eight personnel led by Fire Station Chief Rozlan Osman rushed to the scene after being notified at 3.01pm.

Upon arriving the scene, he said the team carried the victim down from the tree in which he was carrying out his mango picking activity.

Based on information from the public, he also said that the deceased was using a metal pole to pick mangoes from the tree but accidentally which accidentally touched a nearby electric cable which led to the electrocution.

“The team brought the victim down with ladder and rope after the electricity was turned off by Sabah Electricity. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Department officers, and the body was handed over to the police for further action,” he added.

The operation ended at 4.29pm.
