BONGAWAN: A massive blaze gutted three rows of old, double-storey shop lots in Bongawan town early this morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 5.38am, with the first team from the Kimanis fire station arriving at the scene five minutes later. The location was approximately 10km from the station.

The fire involved non-permanent structures and several vehicles parked nearby. No casualties have been reported at this time.

Firefighting efforts are ongoing, involving 15 personnel from Kimanis and Papar.

The public is advised to avoid the area while operations continue.
