TAWAU: A 20-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting and threatening a 19-year-old girl in Merotai Besar around 2 PM on Monday.

Tawau Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the incident occurred after a discussion about a personal issue involving the victim’s niece escalated.

The suspect, unhappy with the conversation, allegedly choked the victim, punched her left shoulder, and threatened to harm her.

The victim filed a police report at Bombalai Police Station at 9.25 pm, and the suspect was arrested around 11.50 pm the same night.

The case is being investigated under Sections 506 and 323 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and causing injury.

ACP Jasmin urged the public to manage emotions during disputes and report any criminal acts to the police.
