KOTA KINABALU: All electricity users in Sabah and Labuan will not be subjected to any surcharge from July to December this year.

The State Government has approved the implementation of the Imbalance Cost Pass-Through (ICPT) mechanism for the second half of 2025.

This decision was made as power generation costs remain manageable, eliminating the need for targeted surcharges imposed in previous periods.

The ICPT, part of the Incentive-Based Regulation (IBR) framework, allows for biannual tariff reviews based on actual generation costs compared to projected figures under the approved Regulatory Period.

The move will benefit all consumers, including those under public distribution licensees, ensuring no increase in electricity bills during the six months.
