PETALING JAYA: Wisma Putra has issued a travel advisory urging Malaysians to avoid non-essential travel to Iran, Iraq and Jordan following escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.
In a statement, the foreign ministry said the situation has led to the closure of airspaces in the three countries.
“Malaysians in the region are advised to anticipate potential disruptions to flight schedules and make the necessary adjustments to their travel plans.
“Non-essential travel to these areas should be deferred, given the unpredictable nature of the conflict,” it said.
The ministry also urged Malaysians in Iran to remain vigilant, monitor developments closely, follow instructions from local authorities, and update their contact details with the Malaysian embassy in Tehran.
“The ministry remains committed to safeguarding the welfare and safety of Malaysian citizens abroad through its diplomatic missions.”
Malaysians in need of consular assistance are advised to contact the nearest embassy.

Media reported that the unprovoked attacks on Iran, which started at about 3am local time on Friday, targeted both military and nuclear facilities as well as residential areas.
The strikes resulted in the deaths of numerous Iranian military personnel and civilians and caused significant damage to critical infrastructure in several parts of the country.
Iran launched dozens of missiles back at Israel on Saturday, with explosions reported in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
