KOTA KINABALU: A fuel tanker carrying 27,000 litres of diesel and petrol caught fire along Sulaman flyover, in front of Taman Indah Permai, late Thursday night.
The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 11.31pm and arrived at the scene by 11.49pm, with the fire brought under control within 17 minutes.
No casualties were reported, but about 30 per cent of the tanker was damaged, with 30 personnel from Kota Kinabalu and Lintas fire stations deployed.
The team used water tankers, foam, hose reels, and a thermal imaging camera to safely cool the tank and ensure no risk of reignition.
Once stabilised, company staff transferred the remaining fuel to another tanker under the supervision of the fire team, who concluded the operation at 3.40am.
