Sabah urged to deepen China rapport
Yiew, who is also the Deputy Chairperson of the Women Entrepreneurs Section of the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (Sabah Chapter), stressed the importance of tapping into China’s openness and commitment to international exchange.
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah should leverage its strong relationship with China to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors in order to achieve mutually beneficial growth, said Yee Tsai Yiew, Special Officer to the Chief Minister.

Yiew, who participatied in the China Overseas Friendship Association (COFA) Committee Delegation visit to Beijing and Hebei recently, said: “Sabah’s local industry players, entrepreneurs, and business community can unlock greater opportunities by exploring strategic collaborations.”

“These include technology transfer, youth talent development, SME partnerships, and educational exchange—all of which are key to strengthening Sabah’s competitiveness and global connectivity.”

The visit was organised by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of China.

She noted the potential of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), describing it as not only a global connector but also a platform for participating countries to collaborate in infrastructure development, cultural exchange, and economic cooperation.
