PENAMPANG: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) will contest the 17th state election under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) banner, reaffirming its loyalty to the ruling coalition.

Acting President Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam said the party’s Supreme Council endorsed the decision during a meeting at its headquarters yesterday.

He added that PBS will continue to strengthen ties with StarSabah, led by Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, stressing the importance of unity among local-based parties.

Joachim said most party leaders opposed any collaboration with Umno or Barisan Nasional (BN), favouring a purely local alliance.

Party advisor Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan also attended the meeting, offering strategic guidance as PBS prepares for the upcoming electoral battle.
