SANDAKAN: The distribution of seats between Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties remains under discussion, with no final decision being reached by party leadership.

Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah Vice President Datuk Masiung Banah said some GRS component parties had yet to submit their candidate lists for consideration.

“However, these matters will be detailed in the coming GRS and PH Presidential Council meeting,” he told reporters after officiating the Gum-Gum Gagasan Rakyat Division’s Annual General Conference.

Masiung said while he is not directly involved in the GRS meetings, the Gagasan Rakyat President, who is also GRS President, typically provides updates on such matters.

“The seat allocation between GRS and PH has not been finalised, although discussions are ongoing.

“GRS, under the Gagasan Rakyat umbrella, must contest at least 53 seats, while the remaining 20 seats will be contested by PH,” said Masiung.

He said all party members at divisional and grassroots levels must respect the Presidential Council’s decisions, as it serves as the key entity within GRS.

Masiung acknowledged that current public sentiment favours local parties, but pointed out that cooperation with PH should be prioritised given its alignment with the Prime Minister.
