KOTA KINABALU: PBS Youth Chief Datuk Dr Christoper Mandut has hit back at Sabah Umno Chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, calling his remarks defensive and contradictory.
Dr Christoper clarified that PBS never claimed to receive an offer from BN but simply stated its stance to not cooperate with BN in the upcoming state election (PRN17).
“It’s about principle, not imagination,” he said.
He dismissed Bung’s claims of PBS being irrelevant, noting that if that were true, there would be no reason for Umno to issue a full statement attacking the party.
Emphasising PBS’s long-standing commitment to Sabah’s rights and the Malaysia Agreement 1963, he said the party does not need to undermine others to stay relevant.
Addressing accusations of coalition-hopping, Dr Christoper urged Bung to reflect on Umno’s own shifting alliances, saying political realignment should serve the people, not personal ambition.
He also rejected claims that PBS is merely riding on others’ success, insisting it remains an active and constructive GRS partner.
Calling for maturity ahead of PRN17, Dr Christoper warned against petty attacks, saying Sabahans deserve better.
“The people are smart. They know who’s working for them and who’s just making noise,” he said.
