KOTA KINABALU: A fatal road accident occurred around 11.15 am near Jesselton Medical Centre involving a Perodua Myvi and a SYM motorcycle.
The 32-year-old local motorcyclist, a food delivery rider, died at the scene after being rear-ended by the Myvi.
Preliminary investigations revealed the rider had braked suddenly to avoid a Toyota Hilux cutting lanes when the Myvi struck from behind.
The Myvi driver, 23, sustained head and chest injuries and is receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital.
District police chief ACP Kasim Muda urged witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to step forward and assist the investigation.
