The Toyota was heading towards Beaufort from Sipitang, while the lorry was heading towards Sipitang from Beaufort.

The lorry driver attempted to swerve right while the Toyota tried to return to its proper lane, resulting in both vehicles colliding on the left lane heading from Sipitang to Beaufort.

The identity card retrieved from the victim showed him to be addressed at Kampung Rugading, Tuaran.

The fatal accident happened slightly after 11am when a Toyota Hilux suddenly cut into the right lane, causing the motorcyclist who was positioned between vehicles, to swerve to the right before braking.

The Myvi following behind failed to brake in time and crashed into the motorcycle.

The 24-year-old Myvi driver said he was heading towards City Mall from Telipok to make a delivery when the incident happened.

“The Hilux suddenly cut into the right lane while the motorcycle was forced to serve right to avoid collision,” he claimed.

“The motorcycle sudden braked and I could not stop in time, resulting in the collision,” he added.

The impact proved fatal for the motorcyclist who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Kota Kinabalu police Insp Brymenedren was at the scene to investigate.
