KOTA KINABALU: STAR President Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan has dismissed recent corruption allegations as a politically motivated conspiracy, claiming a "hidden hand" is working to undermine him and destabilise the government.
Speaking at STAR’s 9th anniversary event, Jeffrey described the mining-related accusations as an entrapment, questioning the suspicious timing and why his group was targeted last. He said a police report would be lodged, followed by legal consultations.
Jeffrey added that the controversy would only strengthen his political resolve and accused opponents, particularly PKR, of trying to exploit the situation.
Separately, he voiced disappointment over Sabah being left out of a federal technical committee meeting on the state’s 40 percent revenue entitlement, blaming the State Secretariat for failing to send a required letter to the Prime Minister.
He also criticised the federal government for allegedly making decisions about the Ambalat area—claimed by Sabah—without proper consultation.
