100 canopies for Tawau traders
Rina hopes the assistance can help them boost their household income.
TAWAU: Over 100 canopies have been distributed, specifically to young traders, women and single mothers in Kukusan over the past three years. Kukusan Assemblywoman Datuk Rina Jainal believe that although the contribution is small, such assistance can help those in need who are eligible to receive it, while also providing morale boost.

“This is just a small contribution, but it can help those who truly require support from leaders and the Government. I used my Adun allocation to provide canopies for the people of Kukusan who are involved in small-scale businesses,” she said.

According to her, the recipients of the canopies were identified through field programmes conducted across Kukusan, with the condition that the traders possess a valid business licence and trading permit.

She added that the initiative was implemented through good cooperation between grassroots community leaders and local residents, which in turn can help them improve their livelihoods through their entrepreneurial activities.

She hopes the assistance can help them boost their household income.

Rina, who is also Political Secretary to the Finance Minister, said this to the media after handing over the canopy assistance to Kukusan traders at Pasar Tamu Sabindo, here.

She said her office also actively engages with various groups to identify traders in need of support and early aid, such as canopies, particularly those who have not previously received such assistance.

She explained that her team focuses on helping traders among youth, women and single mothers, with their eligibility also being assessed by officials and community leaders at her office to ensure no deserving group is left out.

At the same time, she emphasised the importance of improving communication between grassroots leaders such as the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) chairmen, village heads and officers at the Adun office to ensure that every issue faced by Kukusan residents receives attention.
