PAPAR: A police report has been lodged by Community Development Leader (PPM) for Limbahau, Datuk Johnny Mositun, against Albert Tei Jiann Cheing for alleged defamatory and seditious remarks made during a media conference outside the High Court, here, on Monday.

The report was lodged at Papar police station on Wednesday.

“Albert made malicious, false and defamatory statements against the Chief Minister, the State Assembly Speaker and several other assemblymen,” Johny said in the report.

He said Albert also alleged that the leaders were conspiring to obstruct investigations and claimed there was a plot to harm him, including the possibility of being kidnapped or murdered.

“These are extremely serious criminal accusations and seditious in nature,” he said.

Johny said Albert’s statements gave the impression that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Attorney General’s Chambers were conducting selective investigations and prosecutions, which could undermine public confidence in the justice system.

“Albert’s actions could constitute contempt of court (subjudice) as the matter is currently before the courts,” he said.

He said the report was lodged to urge police to investigate the matter and take appropriate legal enforcement action against Albert.
