Local council quantity surveyor remanded over RM200,000 graft probe
KOTA KINABALU: A local authority quantity surveyor has been remanded for four days to assist an investigation into alleged bribery involving over RM200,000.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Wan Farrah Farizza Wan Ghazali following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the Kota Kinabalu Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

The male suspect in his 30s was detained at the Sabah MACC office around 7pm on Tuesday after arriving to give a statement.

He is suspected of receiving the bribes from multiple contractors and suppliers between 2021 and 2024, allegedly in exchange for helping secure projects such as poverty eradication initiatives, housing construction, waste centre cleaning, and vehicle parts supply.
