KOTA KINABALU: Umno Putatan is confident that Barisan Nasional (BN) can recapture the Tanjung Keramat, Petagas, and Tanjung Aru seats in the upcoming state election (PRN17), if the party decides to contest there.
Division Chief Jeffrey Nor Mohammad said the party machinery has been actively mobilised in the three constituencies, all of which have historical ties to BN. He noted that Petagas, once a BN stronghold, has the highest number of Umno branches in the division.
“Tanjung Keramat and Petagas are traditionally ours. If BN places candidates there, we’re confident of victory,” he said during a youth event in Tanjung Aru.
He added that Sabah’s current political instability may drive voter sentiment toward BN in PRN17, particularly amid concerns over integrity issues facing the existing state government.
His deputy, Reduan Aklee, agreed, citing growing support among young voters and the general public in the three constituencies. He said a well-organised campaign could give BN a strong chance of forming the next state government.
Also present at the event were Umno Sabah Treasurer Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak and Sepanggar Umno Chief Datuk Yakub Khan.
