KOTA KINABALU: Sabah-based Jetsin Sdn Bhd is expanding into the Philippines with its halal food brand Abang J, kicking off operations in both Metro Manila and Mindanao.
The venture will be led through two local partners, Abang J Philippines Trading Corporation handling distribution and Twelve Fold Ventures Corporation managing the F&B chain franchise under the Abang J brand.
The strategic move follows connections made during the Philippine Business Mission to Kota Kinabalu, co-organised by MinDA and PCCI-Mindanao.
Davao and General Santos will serve as initial launch points in Mindanao, identified by the Philippine government as emerging halal trade hubs.
Jetsin’s expansion aligns with the Philippines’ Halal Industry Development Strategic Plan and broader BIMP-EAGA efforts to deepen regional halal trade.
With the global halal market valued at USD 2.3 trillion in 2022, the company aims to ride Southeast Asia’s halal growth wave, following earlier expansions in Brunei and Indonesia.
