SANDAKAN: A man was killed and another seriously injured after a four-wheel drive vehicle collided with a lorry near Ladang Sakilan, Batu 25, on Monday night.

Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station acting chief, Chauslim Sunsubin, said they received an emergency call at 8.25pm via MERS999 and arrived at the scene, located 34km from the station, at 9.02pm with seven personnel.

Also present were seven police officers and three health personnel.

Firefighters extricated both victims from the vehicle. One sustained head injuries while the other was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel.

The victims were handed over to the health authorities, and firefighters carried out safety checks before ending the operation at 9.30pm.
