KPDN in final phase of finalising DPN 2.0 implementation 
Armizan added that among the main challenges to be addressed through DPN 2.0 are issues of consumer exploitation, the use of unsafe or environmentally unfriendly products, fraud in purchase transactions, and the misuse of digital technologies including artificial intelligence.
Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is currently in the final phase of finalising the implementation of the National Consumer Policy 2.0 (DPN 2.0), which will serve as the primary reference for all stakeholders within the consumer ecosystem.

Its Minister Datuk Armizan Ali said the policy was created to help the country better handle today’s complicated challenges, like relaxed regulations, enforcement problems and low consumer awareness.

“DPN 2.0 will detail the roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder, whether directly or indirectly involved, in ensuring the effectiveness of consumer protection laws and the comprehensive delivery of information towards the development of an empowered Malaysian consumer,” he said.

“DPN 2.0 also emphasises the issue of the cost of living for the people through an inclusive and responsive policy approach.

“The related initiatives currently being implemented include the execution of the Madani Umbrella Programme, the expansion of the use of the Madani Ihsan Portal as a daily essentials price reference, and the use of the cost of living indicators as a guide for consumer spending,” he said at a media conference during the Closing Ceremony of the 2025 Consumer Festival (Confest 2025) in conjunction with the National Consumer Day celebration here on Sunday.

Meanwhile, he also announced the launch of the Skuad Kita Pengguna (SKIP) logo as part of the strategy under the Kita Gempur initiative to expand community involvement in consumer advocacy.

“SKIP will serve as a strategic partner to the ministry in raising public awareness about their rights and responsibilities as consumers,” he said.

According to him, the empowerment of SKIP is also driven by an increase in membership nationwide, with a target of registering 25,000 members by the end of 2025.
