LAHAD DATU: A woman died and 14 others were injured after a Toyota Hilux veered off the road and plunged 15 metres into a ravine in Ladang Permai here on Wednesday.
The Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 5.53am and arrived at the scene at 6.08am, supported by police and Health Ministry personnel.
It was reported that all 15 victims - seven men, seven women, and one young boy - had been rescued by members of the public before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters assisted in lifting the victims back up to the roadside, where a woman, aged 33, was pronounced dead by health officers and handed over to the police.
Thirteen others sustained injuries while the driver escaped unhurt, with all survivors taken to the hospital for further treatment before the operation ended at 8.53am.
