Still no sign of teen who went fishing
SANDAKAN: A local 14-year-old boy was reported missing while prawn fishing with friends in Tanjung Semawang waters at 5.30am on Saturday.

A Search and Rescue operation for the teenager was initiated with six Sandakan Fire and Rescue personnel immediately after the station received an emergency call at 6.39am on Sunday.

Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Severinus Sainkui, said that according to the complainant, the victim initially went out prawn fishing on the same day with other friends but did not return until noon that same day.

The complainant then went out searching and found the victim’s boat in the waters of Tanjung Semawang and discovered a hat floating on the sea surface.

A search for the victim was then conducted together with village residents, but the victim still could not be found, prompting them to contact the Fire and Rescue Department for assistance.

The teenager is still missing as at press time.
