Former state rugby player jailed over sister’s death
KOTA KINABALU: A 28-year-old former state rugby player was sentenced to 12 years in prison for causing the death of his younger sister two years ago.

The High Court here handed down the sentence to Arden Mattson Maturin after he pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of manslaughter.

Arden had initially faced a murder charge, but following a successful representation, the court accepted a reduced charge under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code.

The incident took place on May 4, 2023, between 3.30pm and 4.30pm at their family home in Taman Prestij.
