SANDAKAN: Five local authority civil servants have been remanded for seven days starting Wednesday to assist an anti-corruption probe.
Magistrate Yong Ching Hong granted the remand order following a request by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the Sandakan Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
The three men and two women, aged between 30 and 50, were arrested on Tuesday over allegations of receiving bribes from contractors linked to their official duties since 2022.
The investigation is being conducted under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
