KOTA BELUD: A married couple was found burnt to death in a house fire at Kampung Sangkir, here, early Thursday.
The victims were discovered in the bathroom of the single-storey house, which was completely destroyed.
Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Assistant Fire Supt Elge Bakuk, said they received a distress call at 2.52am.
“A team of 10 firefighters, along with one fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, was dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the house was already engulfed in flames. A sedan car, believed to be a Proton Saga, was also destroyed in the fire,” he said.
After the fire was brought under control at 3.22am, firefighters discovered the charred remains of the husband and wife in the bathroom.
Elge said the operation used one water line with two hoses, drawing water from the fire engine.
