MMEA foils fuel smuggling attempt off Pulau Bum Bum

SEMPORNA: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) foiled a fuel smuggling attempt off Pulau Bum Bum on Tuesday.

Four unregistered pump boats and petrol worth over RM10,000 were seized during the operation, said Semporna Maritime Zone Director Maritime Commander Amir Shubli.

The raid was carried out under Ops Pluto Timur, Ops Khas Cegah PATI, and Ops Tiris based on intelligence of smuggling activities in the area.

Upon spotting the patrol vessel, the boat operators jumped into the sea and escaped towards shallow waters, abandoning their boats.
