Nine held in Lahad Datu operations: syabu seized
Among the nine suspects.
LAHAD DATU: Nine men were detained, while syabu estimated to worth more than RM5,500 were seized in two separate operations at Tanjung Labian and Jalan Jeroco.

District Police Chief, ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said, the suspects were detained following the operation conducted by the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division (BSJND) of Lahad Datu Police Headquarters and the Battalion 17 of Lahad Datu General Operation Force (GOF) on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the BSJND carried out an Op Tapis operation on a hut in a plantation at Jalan Jeroco at about 6.40pm.

Following the operation, three men aged between 20 and 52 were detained and result of inspection found 50.46 grams of drugs believed to be Syabu estimated worth RM5,550.60.

“The team also seized some items believed used for drug abuse activities and four motorcycles.

“All three suspects were also tested positive for taking Methamphetamine and Amphetamine,” he said.

According to Dzulbaharin, about 12.05am on Wednesday, the GOF has conducted the Op Taring ESSZone at Kampung Sungai Bilis, in Tanjung Labian.

In the operation, a local man and five Filipinos aged between 19 and 56 were detained and following the inspection conducted on the suspects, the team discovered 2.33 grams of Syabu worth RM256.30 from three suspects.

“All the suspects were tested positive for taking Amphetamine and Methamphetamine. The team also inspected a Proton Saga and two motorcycles,” he said.

Dzulbaharin said, all those suspects were currently in their custody for further investigation under Section 39B, Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

In the meantime, Dzulbaharin added that the operations reflects the Lahad Datu Police’s commitment in combating criminal activities in this district.
