LAHAD DATU: A 36-year-old was jailed 15 years and ordered given 12 strokes of the cane by the Session Court, here, Tuesday for raping his daughter.
Judge Suhaila Selag imposed the sentence on the unemployed man after he was found guilty of committing the offence.
The accused, being the head of the family, should be the one protecting the victim. The sentence was given as a lesson to society.
The accused was jailed and ordered to whipped as the court found that he failed to raise reasonable doubt for committing the offence.
He was charged under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code.
The accused was convicted of raping the girl, who was 13 years and seven months during the incident at the bathroom of their house in Tungku on October, last year.
The man was ordered to serve the jail sentence from the date of the conviction.
