KOTA KINABALU: The mother of the late Zara Qairina Mahathir has handed her mobile phone to police for forensic analysis, according to the family’s lawyer Hamid Ismail.

The phone, containing voice recordings between Zara and her mother, was submitted at the Karamunsing police station on Thursday for examination in Cheras.

Hamid explained the delay was due to the mother needing rest after a four-hour police interview in Sipitang the previous day.

He urged the public to refrain from speculation, saying the grieving mother deserves support and prayers.

The legal team also confirmed that no post-mortem was carried out on Zara’s body and welcomed the return of the investigation papers to police as a step toward uncovering the truth.
