LAHAD DATU: Marine police confiscated various brands of illicit cigarettes and two vans, estimated worth RM2,087,420, in an operation at Batu 8, Jalan Silam, here, Thursday.

Sabah Region Four Marine Commander, ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said the team also arrested two local men, aged 32 and 38 to assist in investigation.

He said, during the 1am operation, the Marine team confiscated two white vans and found piles of black colour plastic containing illicit cigarettes.

“A total of 1,622,800 sticks of various brand cigarettes believed smuggled in from the neighbouring country were seized.

“All the seizures were estimated worth RM2,087,420 and investigation will be carried out under the Customs Act 1967,” he said.
