Two locals held for drugs in Lahad Datu
The two men arrested by police during the operation.
LAHAD DATU: Two local men were detained separately during Op Tapis at Kampung Puyut, here, on Saturday for possessing drugs.

District Police Chief, ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail, said the first suspect, a 32-year-old man working as a laborer was arrested after police found 0.54 grams of Syabu in his possession.

The suspect also tested positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine. 

The suspect also had four previous criminal records related to drugs, he said.

Police also detained a 47-year-old unemployed man for possessing 0.25 grams of Syabu, and had two previous criminal records related to drugs.

“Both of the suspects are being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.

“The first case will also be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952,” he said.

In the meantime, Dzulbaharin added that the operations reflect the Lahad Datu Police’s commitment in combating criminal activities in this district.
