KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) vice-president Sim Fui (

Sim expressed his condolences to the family of Zara Qairina Mahathir, saying her passing was deeply saddening but had raised national awareness on the seriousness of bullying in schools.
He proposed that the hotline be operated independently under the ministry, with direct links to the police and Social Welfare Department to ensure no cases are silenced at the school level.
Key features suggested include a 24/7 toll-free line, multiple reporting channels, confidentiality and protection under existing laws, swift action within 24 hours for critical cases, a case tracking system, and regular public accountability reports.
Sim also called on the ministry to work closely with the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, child rights advocates and civil society groups to implement the initiative without delay.
