RANAU: Deputy Chief Minister cum Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam said higher state revenue collection has enabled more development projects and assistance initiatives for the people.
Speaking during a community outreach programme at Dewan Mini Kampung Pinausok on Thursday, the Kundasang assemblyman outlined government initiatives and plans for the area, giving residents, including youth, the opportunity to engage directly with him.
He said the programme also aimed to explain government plans to improve facilities in the area, while expressing gratitude for the strong support from Pinausok residents, which he pledged to reciprocate through the implementation of development projects.
During the visit, residents raised requests for social amenities and road upgrades, while Joachim also toured Kampung Perancangan and Kampung Turuntungon, presenting two canopies to local traders, distributing vegetables from the Kundasang Highlands, and officiating a new bridge.
On a separate matter, he denied allegations of corruption, stressing that the claims were untrue and that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission should be allowed to conduct its investigation, warning that legal action would be taken against those spreading false accusations.
