Body washed ashore in Kota Belud
The victim’s body washed ashore.
KOTA BELUD: The body of a 46-year-old foreigner was found washed ashore at Kampung Rampayan Laut, here, Saturday.

The victim, believed to have fallen into the sea while fishing, was discovered by a member of the public at 8.55am, who immediately alerted the authorities.

District Police Chief Supt Shahrudin Mat Husain said a team was dispatched to the scene.

Initial investigations showed the man had gone fishing near the river mouth when his boat capsized due to strong waves, causing him to fall into the sea and be swept away by currents.

The body was sent to the Kota Belud Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem. Police have classified the case as sudden death urged witnesses to come forward with any information.
