KOTA KINABALU: The mother of the late Zara Qairina Mahathir, Noraidah Lamat, will take the stand as one of the witnesses in the inquest into her daughter’s death.

Lawyer Hamid Ismail confirmed her role when speaking about the list of witnesses expected during the proceedings.

He explained that Noraidah’s testimony will be part of the process as the court seeks to examine events leading to the 13-year-old’s passing.

For now, the legal team representing Zara’s family is present in court under a watching brief capacity.

They are also seeking to be recognised as interested parties so they may take part more actively in the questioning of witnesses.
